  • Is Planning Permission required?
Garden rooms (with a max height 2.5m) often fall under permitted development and do not require planning permission. Most properties fall within permitted development, even homes in AONB (areas of outstanding natural beauty). Listed buildings do not fall under permitted development and require planning permission. If you are unsure if you require planning permission, please get in touch. We also offer a planning permission service.
  • Who does the design?
We listen to your needs and take the information from our first site visit to create the initial design. We will then work with you to make sure the final design is perfect!
  • How long does the planning and design phase take?
Depending on our availability it could take as little as 4 weeks before we begin the build. We understand that having a Garden Room is an investment so sometimes the design phase can take longer if you are not sure where you want the room or the size etc.
  • Do you have standard sizes of Garden Rooms?
No, all our Garden Rooms are bespoke to your needs and requirements.
  • What is the difference between an Open and a Closed Garden Room?
Close Garden Rooms are enclosed rooms with doors and windows. Open Garden Rooms do not have doors or windows. We can design and build a combination of both.
  • Can I add underfloor heating to my project?
Yes, we offer underfloor heating as well as internal and external heat options.
  • What flooring will I get with my Garden Room?
As standard, all our Garden Rooms come with commercial grade laminate. We offer an upgrade to engineered or hard wood flooring.
  • Do you supply and fit air conditioning?
Yes we do, we can build this into the quotation if required.
  • Do you supply and fit blinds?
Yes we do, we can build this into the quotation if required.
  • Can we add sky lights to our design?
Yes, absolutely! It’s a great option for letting in extra light.
  • Can I put a hot tub inside a Garden Room?
We don’t recommend putting a hot tub inside a closed Garden Room due to the moisture, but an open Garden Room is a great place for a hot tub.
  • Can I live or sleep in a garden room?
Our Garden Rooms are not designed for sleeping or living in as they do not meet building regulations for this use.
  • What will my Garden Room sit on?
We usually use ground screws to support our Garden Rooms. However we can also use concrete to create a base.
  • Will my cladding require any maintenance?
No, we use Cedar, Larch and Douglas fir on our builds which do not require maintenance. However the wood will turn a lovely silver colour in the sun over time. If you wish to change the colour of the wood you could use wood stain or a water based UV oil.
  • Should I update my home insurance after my Garden Room is complete?
Yes, we recommend that you update your insurances to reflect your new space.
